Having completed his apprenticeship two years ago, Brian has quickly made a name for himself in the tattoo community. At 6HAM, Brian will be exclusively offering blackwork tattoos. 🔥 The WEAVERS AND SPINNERS COLLECTIVE OF NL 🔥

The Weavers and Spinners Collective of NL (WSCNL) is excited to host an in-person spinners gathering to celebrate the grand finale of the Tour de Fleece(TdF) 2024. The TdF is held annually during the Tour de France to encourage spinners to spin every day of the race and build community as part of teams. This is the first year that the WSCNL has participated in the event, and it has been a wonderful way to connect across the province, sharing knowledge, creativity, and lovely yarns!

The gathering will take place July 20th from 2-4 pm at Eastern Edge ARC as part of their Hamiversary event. Wool, drop spindles, and instruction will also be available for those who wish to try their hand at spinning yarn!

Emyn Hayden is a hairstylist specializing in Natural Texture, in practice for 3 years. He’s had the privilege to learn from and work beside industry experts and is eager to bring that education back to his clients; teaching people about their hair is Emyn’s favourite thing to do behind the chair. Emyn is proud to be a part of HAM and share his love for art with the community.

🔥TATREEZ WITH SARAH AND BECK🔥

Tatreez has been used by Palestinian women for centuries to adorn their traditional robe, or “thobe” (ثوب), and uses cross-stitched designs to depict the flora, fauna and landscapes of Palestine. Join this collaborative project to help stitch designs onto a community tapestry depicting both local scenes and historical Palestinian patterns. The finished work will be shown this August at HOLD FAST Festival!

Sarah Khraishi is a Palestinian-Canadian textile artist and tatreez practitioner who was born and continues to reside in St. John’s, NL. Her work uses traditional Palestinian motifs to explore intersections of culture, politics and collective memory, often with a contemporary or playful twist. She received an MA in Philosophy in 2012, and has previously taught textile classes at Eastern Edge.

Beck MacLeod is a textile artist and instructor with a focus on weaving, embroidery, and natural print and dye work. They are a Jewish, queer, and disabled artist who uses art as a form of self-expression and healing. Themes in their work include place, identity, disability, activism, and nature. Their background in ecology and environmental studies fuels their focus on natural fibres, dyes, and the use of found and thrifted materials.
