Take Back The Night 2025!

Join Eastern Edge, End Sexual Violence NL, and The Journey Project NL for Take Back The Night 2025!
On Friday, September 19, 2025, join us at the St. John’s Courthouse (194 Water Street) at 6:30pm to kick off the night with powerful speeches from survivors, advocates, and community supports. We will march to Eastern Edge Gallery (72 Harbour Drive) for an exhibition reception from 7:30pm-8:30pm, where folks will be able to view The Journey Project’s Photovoice 2025 Exhibit: Both/And, and create a community mural art piece to be displayed at End Sexual Violence NL.
We will have ASL interpretation available throughout this event. This event will go ahead rain or shine, we will move speeches into Eastern Edge Gallery if needed for weather purposes. This event is all ages and welcome to all community members, advocates, and allies. We ask that folks that belong to law enforcement, police, or defense community refrain from wearing uniforms or associated logos, in respect for the historic and ongoing mistrust and harm to survivors/victims of sexual violence.
End Sexual Violence NL expresses their sincere gratitude for their sponsors and partners, The Journey Project, Eastern Edge, Triangular Communication and Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
What is Take Back The Night?
Since the 1970s, community members have shown up in an impactful way to Take Back The Night worldwide, in response to sexual violence in all forms. Started by young women who protested and continue to protest the inability for women to walk safely after dark, TBTN has evolved to recognize the sexual violence, gender-based violence, and domestic violence that is occurring in our communities to all of its members, regardless of gender, age, or social location. TBTN strives to center the voices of survivors of all forms of sexual violence, and recognize the vulnerabilities for women, girls and gender diverse community members – with greater risk associated with intersectionality considered for Transgender, Black, Indigenous, 2SLGBTQIA+, Immigrant, Disabled, unhoused/roofless folks.
