Highlights- HOLD FAST 2026

Thank you to everyone whose performances, installations, volunteering, and participation made this year’s HOLD FAST an unforgettable experience for our community!

Than Brown is, among other things, a writer, musician, and folklorist. Their perspective is that of a transfeminine lesbian, who immigrated to St. John’s from New York State in pursuit of knowledge and self discovery – yet another victim of the folklore degree to NL resident pipeline. Although best known as a musician, she is currently developing their writing career, working on art reviews, scholarly work, and fiction.

Dylan Dixon is an illustrator based in Conception Bay South. Traditionally trained, he uses a variety of techniques to capture stories and scenes around him, including Pen and Ink, Digital, Watercolour, and more

Ritche Perez, born in Sukkot, Paranaque, Philippines, moved to St. John’s, Newfoundland,Canada, in 1977. He is a skilled photographer and graphic designer, currently a Multimedia Specialist at Memorial University, with experience in website firms and advertising agencies. Additionally, Ritche is a musician and songwriter, having played in several alternative rock bands and currently performing with Rabot. He travels to the Philippines to reconnect with his roots, focusing on street photography that addresses social issues. Ritche’s youth is featured in the show “Son of a Critch.”
