Emily Pittman: Skeletons in the Woods

A rusting, abandoned train. A truck left in the woods, its windows smashed. An old excavator, shovel at

permanent rest. Skeletons in the Woods is a series of prints that seek to explore the contrast between

abandoned vehicles and machines, and the natural environment. As the seasons shift and change, the

machines slowly whither away, being taken over by rust, bushes, and animals seeking shelter. The prints will

depict illustrated images of machines, nature, and animals interacting with one another, specifically

snowshoe hares and ptarmigan, as their fur and feathers molt with the changing seasons of Wabush, Labrador.
