Our biggest annual fundraiser is back for its seventh iteration! fare & SQUARE is a fantastic opportunity for you to support Eastern Edge while going home with a unique work of art!

The finest local artists have been invited to participate in this fundraiser, creating an original 8”x 8” artwork on a birch panel. In order to bring one of these artworks home, you will need a ticket to attend our salon soiree on December 8th, 2024 at the Alt Hotel Ballroom. The event will run from 6-9 pm, with the ticket draw taking place at 7 pm.

Terre restaurant will be providing delicious cocktail snacks, and Eastern Edge will be bringing a sweet surprise for everyone. Ticket numbers will be drawn at random. When your lucky number is called, you may select one of the available artworks! This is a rare chance to receive a one-of-a-kind piece of art at a very reasonable price. It is a fun gamble not knowing what you will go home with, but a relatively safe one – all invited artists are INCREDIBLE!

There will only be 100 tickets available for this exclusive event. The tickets are $220, and for that price, you will receive an original 8×8″ artwork, tasty hors d’oeuvres from Terre, and of course, take part in an evening of art, music and fun! Please note there will also be a bar in the space to serve you drinks of your choice, stocked with a fantastic selection of wine, beer and spirits,
plus a featured cocktail in honour of this special event. The bar will be accepting cash, credit, and debit.

Live music will be provided by local musician Jenina MacGillivray. Born in Cape Breton, raised on Prince Edward Island, and based in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Jenina MacGillivray’s songs and stories are deeply located on the islands of Atlantic Canada. With a voice that “evokes another era” MacGillivray’s songs are wistful, and longing — she sings of lost loves in Portugal, the Isle of Wight, and the American Southwest — but also intimately familiar. She brings the same dreamy colouring to her songs about her friendships in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Basin Head, PEI, and St. John’s.

As a not-for-profit artist-run centre and registered charity, Eastern Edge depends on the generosity of our patrons and our community. As an arts-based community centre, we deliver free and accessible arts programming year-round, providing a diversity of programs to artists of all ages, races, languages, and genders. We aim to foster an engaging community where artistic practices at every level can thrive, and every artist can be respected and celebrated. All money raised as a part of this fundraiser goes directly into supporting our diverse programming and event schedule! None of this would be possible without you!

Below is a sneak peek at what our artists have donated this year. The list below will continue to grow as artworks are dropped off at the gallery. We are blown away by the quality of the work; each year is better than the last!
