Leslie Butt – Simulacrum
Based on the concept of living in a simulated world where truth is disconnected from reality, Simulacrum explores the use of texture and found objects to present the idealized world of the real. Art as representation is far from the truth. In order to exist in a postmodern society, the work transcends the limits of the universe through imagery of an alternate mode of reality; accommodating space into the simulation of truth. Simulacrum is seeking to discover the human potential of reality.
Leslie Butt is a nationally known spoken word poet, writer, musician and emerging artist. She frequently performs spoken in venues throughout St. John’s and other Canadian cities, and has been showing artwork in St John’s since 2005.
