Saying Goodbye to AiR David Nasca!
We recently said farewell to our May – July Artist in Residence, David Nasca. After packing up his studio space and leaving EE, David visited our pals at Union House Arts to give another wonderful artist talk, and then headed out on a road trip! We had such a good time getting to know David and his practice, so we were sad to see him go, but he was SUCH a joy to have in the space!!
While he was here, David spent time creating ceramic and 3D-printed fossils in a variety of colours and textures. He hit the ground running when he arrived, meeting with local scholars, artists, and writers to talk about queer ecology and how his practice engages with such studies. David went on some trips to check out fossil sites on the island, something that informed much of his work in the studio. He worked with the CCNL Clay Studio to deliver a 3D Printing Sprig Moulds workshop, and gave an artist talk in the Eastern Edge Studio at the very end of his residency.
We are happy to be able to share a zine that David made during his residency too! Ediacaran Encounters: A Zine Guide to Precambrian Life can be found here, in PDF format — we hope you’ll check it out!
We will miss having David in our studio space, and hope that our paths will cross again the future. We look forward to seeing where your practice takes you, David!
