Call for Submissions: Studio Residencies 2028-2029

It’s that time of year again—Eastern Edge’s Studio Residency call for submissions is open! We are now accepting proposals for self-directed residencies to take place at EE Studios. 🎉

Starting this year, Eastern Edge will begin programming 2 years at a time, and we will open our calls for submissions on a biannual basis. This means that this year we are seeking proposals for residencies that will run in 2028 and 2029. See details below!

Eastern Edge’s Studio hosts several artist residencies each year. Located in a creative hub set right on the harbour, our open-concept studio functions as an art studio, office space, event venue, and public arts library. Our island location provides a chance for artists to engage with our beautiful landscape, the unique culture of Newfoundland & Labrador, and our vibrant St. John’s art community. Typically lasting 6 weeks in duration, Eastern Edge residencies are artist-driven opportunities that allow artists time and space to develop their creative projects.

We are dedicated to cultural diversity in our programming, and encourage applications from artists, art collectives, and curators of diverse communities and backgrounds. We accept applications from local, provincial, national, and international artists and curators at any stage in their career. We strive to support the needs of our successful applicants, please do make us aware of any flexibility or supports you need that are not covered here.

Deadline to submit: September 14, 2026, 11:59pm NDT (Newfoundland Daylight Time)
