FARR AiR Alex Antle: Beaded Flower Pin Tutorial

 

In this video, Alex Antle will walk you through how to to make a beaded flower pin. Below you will find a list of materials and links provided by Alex on where to find each item.

Moose Hide (If you can’t get Moose Hide any kind of leather would work)

Beads ( Links provided are for bulk orders. You can buy your preferred colours in smaller quantities at any craft shop): White, YellowGreen

Glover Needles Size 9

Black Thread

White Thread

Participants will need safety pins, scissors and glue– all of which are available at places like Walmart.

Alex Antle is a Mi’kmaw beadwork artist from Qapskuk, Ktaqmkuk (Grand Falls, Newfoundland). She has been practicing since 2017 and has always drawn inspiration from the land and water of her home. Alex’s work is also influenced by the relationship between traditional and modern culture in Ktaqmkuk; she uses traditional beading techniques and modern designs to create contemporary Indigenous art.
