Do you have an art project you would like to present during HOLD FAST Contemporary Arts Festival? A performance to realize? A short film you would like to screen? A studio to welcome visitors? A maker’s event you would like to host? An exhibition you would like to show? Or some other art happening we have yet to mention?
Apply to be a HOLD FAST Pop-Up, and we will share your projects with our community and include you in our festival promotions. It’s a great way to get involved and reach a larger network through Eastern Edge!
HOLD FAST, August 25-28, 2021
HOLD FAST is back, delivering unprecedented art in unprecedented times! HOLD FAST is a celebration of contemporary art held in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, a festival dedicated to immersive contemporary art and is the longest-running in the province. The Festival provides a platform for local and Atlantic artists to present their work, share their unique perspectives, and engage with the larger arts community.
HOLD FAST is more committed than ever to delivering accessible, meaningful and critically relevant contemporary art programming as we weather the storm together.
In addition to our featured artists, we are seeking proposals for supplementary programming from local artists, businesses, nonprofits and collectives. This is an excellent way to become a part of HOLD FAST and help us to celebrate all the diverse creative practices across St. John’s.
In exchange, we will promote your project on our social media channels as one of the HOLD FAST events, and include your Pop-up on the Art Crawl map!
Submissions must include:
- A project proposal (max. 500 words)
- Artist statement outlining an overview of your art practice or interests. (Max 500 words OR 5 minute video)
- Images (10 max) which can include installation images, individual works, or link to video clips/audio files with accompanying descriptions
- Outline of technical equipment required and a plan of how you will meet those needs
- Confirmed pop-up location or plan for securing a venue for the Art Crawl on August 28th, 2021
*All submissions must be sent as email attachments (no zip files), and must not exceed 25 MB. Please send images as JPGs and text files as PDFs. You may also provide a video submission instead of written documents as .mp4s or links to Youtube, Vimeo, etc.
