HOLD FAST: Call for Cartoonist-in-Residence

HOLD FAST is accepting applications for a Cartoonist-in-residence to cover our 2026 festival!

As a cartoonist, you’ll cover HOLD FAST Art Crawl, prioritizing the four Featured Artists & their work. The goal is to create a drawing of each project which captures the essence of the festival’s artists and their projects. Your work will be shared on Eastern Edge’s social media and website as part of our post-festival report.

The festival cartoonist will be paid $300.

Responsibilities:• In-person attendance at Art Crawl (afternoon of Saturday, August 15, 2-6pm)• Submit completed drawings no later than Monday, August 24. These illustrations should highlight specifically the 4 Featured Artists and their projects, but can include any other festival imagery as well.

  • A few examples of your work
  • A few words about why you’re interested
HOLD FAST welcomes applications from emerging and self-taught writers. You are welcome (but not obligated!) to self-identify as BIPOC, LGBTQ2SIA+, disabled, femme, or any other community that is important to your identity.
