Call for Pop-Ups: HOLD FAST 2024

Eastern Edge is seeking proposals for Workshops & Pop-Up Performances to be presented as part of the 2024 HOLD FAST Contemporary Arts Festival!

Presenters will receive a $200 honorarium, with preference given to local artists and collectives. Workshop leaders will receive up to $100 in material reimbursements, with receipts.

About Pop-Ups

We are accepting proposals for workshops and pop-up performances. Performances will take place during Art Crawl, the afternoon of Saturday, August 24. Workshops will be scheduled earlier in the week (August 20-23). All selected presenters will receive a $200 honorarium, with preference given to local artists and collectives. Workshop leaders will receive up to $100 in material reimbursements, with receipts.

Successful proposals are engaging to the public, interactive, well-planned, and realistic in scope. Hosting a workshop or a pop-up is an excellent way to become a part of HOLD FAST, publicize your work, and help celebrate the vibrant creativity that makes our community special.

HOLD FAST can provide support with venues, advertising, and (in some cases) logistics. However, priority is given to applicants who can provide for most of their own needs!

HOLD FAST culminates in a Saturday afternoon Art Crawl, a series of performances, installations, and interactive pop-ups staged outdoors and in non-gallery venues across downtown St. John’s. Past programming has included performances, interactive installations, workshops, dance, drag, burlesque, and free community events for people of all ages.
