Zines (pronounced “zeens”) are booklets, usually self-published or DIY, often used by artists & marginalised creators to share content and tell stories.

Hourly Comics Day with Georgia Webber, presented by Downtown Comics & Eastern Edge
When: Wednesday, Feb 1, 3-8pm (drop-in event). Kids comics workshop from 4-5pm & Intro to Comics (for adults) from 7-8pm
Where: Eastern Edge (downstairs at 72 Harbour Drive)
What: Come hang out and make comics with artist and graphic novelist Georgia Webber! Snacks and discounts from Downtown Comics, and drinks provided by The Battery Cafe. Drawing materials provided, or BYO!
Zine Open Studio, hosted by St. Michael’s Printshop
When: Tuesday, Feb 7, 6-8pm
Where: St. Michael’s Printshop (upstairs at 72 Harbour Drive)
What: Come share your love for zines, your zine tips, AND learn from fellow zinemakers! We’ll have everything you need to make your own zines, so bring your fun ideas and let’s make them into something cool!
Zine Studio with The Association for the Arts in Mount Pearl
When: Monday, Feb 13, 7-10pm
Where: The Annex, Mount Pearl (365 Old Placentia Road)
What: Need to set aside some time to work on your zines? AAMP has you covered! Join us for a relaxed evening of zinemaking & brainstorming. We’ll provide snacks, creative company and some markers/papers/staplers. You bring your creativity energy. Not feeling all that inspired at the moment? Come along anyway! We can help you brainstorm your way into some creative fun.
